The Eleanor’s Legacy Fall 2026 Internship offers hands-on campaign experience alongside in-depth training in field organizing, fundraising, digital strategy, policy and research, communications, and more.
Interns commit 8–10 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends, and work with campaigns across nine regions of New York State. The program begins with a 1–2 week virtual intensive training before interns put their training into action, supporting campaigns in areas such as digital strategy, political outreach, communications, and policy and research.
Eleanor’s Legacy is a statewide organization that recruits, trains, and helps to elect Democratic women across New York State who protect reproductive freedom, advance equity, and strengthen our democracy. About the internship
The Eleanor’s Legacy Internship is a Fall Semester training program that requires 8-10 hours of commitment per intern per week, with the expectation that some of the weekly hours may be completed in evenings and on weekends.
Eleanor’s Legacy Interns support the organization by participating in candidate screening panels, social media, research and other organizational activities. Additionally, students will receive in-depth campaign training on field organizing, fundraising, digital strategy, policy and campaign research, communications, and more. Each intern will be assigned to one of the following regions: Capital, Central New York, Finger Lakes, Long Island, Mid-Hudson, Mohawk Valley/ North Country, New York City, Southern Tier, and Western New York.
The internship will begin with a 1- 2 week virtual intensive campaign training. Upon completion of the training program, each intern will be assigned to assist on any number of projects that will elevate Eleanor’s Legacy in addition to assisting various campaigns with digital strategy, political outreach, communications, and/or policy & research, depending on the needs of each campaign.
As part of the internship, students will:
Attend the 1-2 week virtual training program
Coordinate a weekly schedule of 8-10 work hours with their assigned duties, including phone banking, candidate/opponent research, reviewing data, etc.
Complete tasks assigned both by the assigned campaign and the Eleanor’s Legacy staff remotely
Participate in a weekly one-hour cohort check-in meeting which will sometimes include guest speakers where students can hear directly from industry leaders on various career paths in politics
Attend and support Eleanor’s Legacy events in their region
Commit to a minimum of 4 hours of poll site visibility on Election Day (Fall & Summer Cohorts Only)

Prior campaign and political experience are not required. All interns are expected to contribute 5-8 hours of work per week. The internship is flexible and designed to allow students to complete another internship, job, or classes during the duration of the program.
