We offer these Trainings, Guides and Templates to further Eleanor’s Legacy’s mission of recruiting, training, and helping elect pro-choice Democratic women at the state and local level.

Trainings

Eleanor’s Legacy’s sister organization, The Eleanor’s Legacy Action Fund, runs comprehensive, full-topic candidate trainings, both in-person throughout the state and virtually, covering every topic of campaigning. Our training program is unique in that it is completely focused on practical skills. We take all aspects of campaigning out of the theoretical realm and break it down topic-by-topic, step-by-step. We know that the skills you need to be a successful candidate can be vastly different from the qualifications that make you the right person to hold that office. When there is a knowledge gap on the campaign trail, we are here to fill it!

Campaign Guides & Templates

Our guides and templates are reserved for our endorsed candidates. Interested in applying for an endorsement? Learn more here.

  • Strategic campaign communications are essential for crafting your message and guiding how your campaign interacts with media. The best campaigns have written communications plans that clarify your message as well as when, where, and how you plan to disseminate that message. In our Communications folder, you’ll find tips for writing press releases, identifying your values, writing letters to the editor, designing palm card content, and more!

  • Endorsements are statements of support from issue advocacy organizations, unions, well-known individuals, and other political groups. Endorsement acquisition can boost your campaign’s credibility and visibility, as well as support from donors and voters. This folder includes guidance on endorsement acquisition, labor partnerships, and links to other organizations that provide campaign endorsements.

  • Your campaign should be seeking to constantly grow your base of supporters and your base of volunteers - and one crucial way to scale up your base is through field organizing. Field organizing describes the process of directly contacting voters to persuade and mobilize them to vote for your campaign, through tactics like door knocking, phone banking, relational organizing, and more. This folder includes template field plans, goal ramp calculators, and technical guidance on absentee chase, canvass launches, MiniVAN, and more.

  • In order to run a successful campaign, you need to raise enough money to execute campaign operations. You will need a fundraising plan for how much you need to raise, by when, and through which channels, as well as a campaign budget to decide and track how much money will be allocated to different parts of your campaign. This folder includes templates for planning, donor prospecting, contribution processing, pledge chasing, and more!

  • Campaigns aren’t won or lost by individuals - they’re won or lost by entire communities, and networks of people who show up to support you, causes they believe in, and the neighborhoods they love. Staff and volunteer management, and stewardship of culture in your campaign, shouldn’t be afterthoughts. The best campaigns with the most support are fun campaigns, where people feel seen, heard, and valued. Check out some of our resources on how to build campaign culture and create professional workplace standards.

For our own success to be real, it must contribute to the success of others.
